How to Make College Affordable: College Counselor & Educator Edition

Join us August 1st-August 22nd for this four-week course w/ Special Guest Amanda Miller

I partnered with Amanda Miller—author of the Paying For College in Four Steps resource—to offer this four-week course.

This professional development course will deliver knowledge you can use immediately in your conversations with students and their families, particularly the class of 2025 as they begin building their college lists and the class of 2024 as they choose among the many wonderful offers you’ve helped guide them to.

The goal of this course is to equip school counselors to efficiently and confidently guide students and their families to make their best possible decisions about paying for college.

Over four weeks..

We’ll begin with an overview of financial aid basics from the perspective of your students and families by recreating an engaging Financial Aid Night. Then we’ll practice with a hyper-efficient way to fold financial fit into a student’s college list using a two-question framework. Next we’ll work together to explore the financial aid opportunities of greatest value to your students. Finally, we’ll cover the most significant changes to the FAFSA/the federal aid it corresponds to as well as answer any lingering questions about financial aid forms and processes.

Live session dates and times:

  • Session 1: Tuesday, August 1st
  • Session 2: Tuesday, August 8th
  • Session 3: Tuesday, August 15th
  • Session 4: Tuesday, August 22nd

Live sessions are held at 4-5:30pm Pacific Time (7-8:30pm Eastern).

What Counselors Are Saying About My Courses:

I am extremely grateful to have been given tools that I can both relate to and apply with my students. I will listen to Ethan present every time I am given the opportunity—he is that good!!!
